KS: All right, Scott. Cryptozoic is coming out with “A Christmas Story” product later in the year. What was your reaction when you found out they were making it?
SS: When they called me, I thought it was really cool! I’m like, this is cool. We get our own set. Finally. You know, it’s been a lot of shows and movies, that have not been as popular as ours, who got cards, but we didn’t get official “Christmas Story” cards. We’ll have them now.
KS: So for the signing of it, did you reach out to some of your fellow actors to kind of coordinate or did they just reach out to them?
SS: No, they called me. I took care of the rest. I’m getting everybody else.
KS: How’d your costars feel about getting cards for the set?
SS: It was great! They’re like, really? You coming to visit? I said ‘yeah I’m going to do a card set’ and they‘re like “cool!’
KS: So autographing wise, when you’re doing those signings, do you have a technique when you’re signing? Because you do sign a lot of cards.
SS: You just kind of keep things moving. You kind of stack ‘em and just flail them out and, you know, just keep em’ moving and as long as you know the people, you’re just sitting and you chit chat. Then you, you ‘shoot the bull’, as they say and we have fun doing it. So it makes the time go by faster.
KS: Overall, is there a particular card you would have wanted to be seen made made, or card you would have loved to have in the set?
SS: I mean, I don’t know if they’re going to get cuts of Melinda. I’m going to Dillon, Darren McGavin, the mom and dad, Santa would have been fun, but I have not. I’ve not even seen a check or a cut signature of the guy who played Santa, Jeff Dillon. Haven’t seen one. But you know, I have I have a couple of Jean Sheppard, so that’s fun.
KS: So are you going to be collecting any of your own cards once the product is released?
SS: You know, maybe a couple. I’ll give one to my mom, she’ll want one, you know, and I just stick a couple in the drawer with a few other things that I’ve had along the way.
