MLB Future Watch: Drake Baldwin Baseball Cards, Atlanta Braves – The Atlanta Braves drafted Drake Baldwin in the 3rd round of the 2022 MLB Amateur Draft. This talented catcher is from Springfield, Missouri.
Before the draft, he played college baseball at Missouri State. In 2020, during the pandemic, he hit 3 doubles, 1 triple, 1 home run and 11 RBO.
In 2021, Baldwin had 12 doubles, 4 home runs, 33 RBI and a .316 batting average with a .444 on-base percentage.
In 2022, he hit 14 doubles, 19 home runs with 70 RBOI and a .341 batting average with an amazing .647 slugging percentage.
After the draft, he reported to two more teams and finished his season in A-Ball with the Augusta Braves. His combined numbers were 5 doubles, 9 RBI with 15 runs scored in just 24 games.
In 2023, Baldwin played for three teams ending up in AAA playing for the Gwinnett Stripers. His combined numbers were 26 doubles, 1 triple, 16 home runs with 61 RBI and a .385 on-base percentage and a .460 slugging percentage.
In 2024, he started the season in AA with the Mississippi Braves. A lot of playing for three teams in 2023 was timing. How the season runs, this was in no way a demotion. He did end the season again in AAA. His combined numbers were 19 doubles, 1 triple, 16 home runs with 88 RBI and a .370 on-base percentage with a .423 slugging percentage. In AA, he caught 26% of baserunners. That’s really good. The soon to be 24-year-old is close to playing in Atlanta and will have a real chance of making the team out of training camp which is less than three months away!
