1/1 Caitlin Clark Ghostwrite WNBA Game Face Bounty

In 2024, the WNBA broke records with viewership. According to the WNBA’s website, they delivered its most-watched regular season in 24 years, finished with its highest attendance in 22 years, and set records for digital consumption and merchandise sales in 2024. This season of women’s basketball attracted an all-time record, with more than 54 million unique viewers across various cable networks and streaming platforms. This season alone set a record for 136.29 million hours watched across all national networks. One of the biggest reasons women’s basketball has gained momentum and notoriety has to do with one player: Caitlin Clark.
The first triple-double by a rookie in WNBA history. The first triple-double in Indiana Fever history. The first player in WNBA history to be named Player of the Month and Rookie of the Month in the same month. The first player in WNBA history with 20+ points, 15+ assists, and 5+ rebounds in a game. First rookie since 2008 to be named to the All-WNBA first team. 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year. The list can continue for Clark’s first year in professional basketball.
Not only in her sport is she at the top of her game, but in the hobby as well. Clark holds the record for the highest-selling women’s basketball card with her 2024 Panini Select WNBA Signatures Gold Vinyl 1/1 RPA. It sold on December 7th, 2024 for a little over $234,000. Other 1/1’s of Clark have sold in the range of 50 thousand to 85 thousand dollars as well.

The only other female professional athlete she falls behind? Tennis extraordinaire Serena Williams. Base cards of Caitlin Clark at their peak have sold for hundreds of dollars, mimicking the NBA card market with her value.
Enter ghostwrite. Founded by Josh Luber, ghostwrite is on a mission to change the toy and collectibles market. The figures are called “ghosts” and take on the shape of the players. They tell the story of each athlete, just like ghosts do. With Luber’s experience at StockX and Fanatics Collectibles, he worked to create partnerships with the MLB, NBA, and now the WNBA. ghostwrite has released products with both the MLB and the NBA, but it is player-focused. They were saving the best of the best for the first-ever ghostwrite player edition figures.
They’re called ghostwrite x WNBA: “Game Face (2024).” With a short print run, even shorter player checklist, and 2.75-inch-tall figures, these exclusive, high-end collectibles are one of the hottest products to hit the toy market since the Starting Lineup debuted in the late 1980s. The checklist includes only 12 active players, along with three legends and one fan of the game.

Only 1,187 cases were made of Game Face, with 12 boxes per case and typically one hit per case. There are base versions numbered to 800, Victory numbered to 50, Bet on Women numbered to 25, Gold numbered to 10, Chrome numbered to 5, and of course Fire 1/1 versions. Considering how many base cards there are of someone like Caitlin Clark, with a product like WNBA Game Face, her base figure only has a run of 800. The odds of hitting a Fire 1/1 is one in 66 cases. But the payout could be huge.

Luber spoke Friday on Dave & Adam’s hobby podcast, The Chase, about this product (full interview). He talked briefly about the ghostwrite 1/1, saying that many people are questioning just what it is. Only one of these figures was made. Luber says the design is entirely different from the rest of the figures and that collectors can tell they just uncovered the second biggest chase in the line. He even announced a potential bounty that Luber would pay himself for the ghost. He didn’t mention a dollar amount for the 1/1 ghostwrite. Luber is the second person to announce a bounty for one of these exclusive ghost figures.
Dave & Adam’s announced a bounty for the 2024 ghostwrite WNBA Game Face 1/1 Caitlin Clark. Whoever pulls her rookie 1/1 Game Face will receive $30,000 in exchange for the figure.

ghostwrite will be holding a blind Dutch Auction of 2024 Game Face on Monday December 9th. 200 cases are available with a minimum bid of $400. Shipping will take 1-3 weeks, and collectors are limited to 10 max bids per person. Breakers around the world are also getting their hands on early access of the product. Here at Dave & Adam’s, we pulled a Gold Trophy numbered to 10 out of a case.
Luber assured this isn’t the only iteration of the product. Expect to see MLB and NBA figures on a short checklist, along with seasons of the WNBA.
If you pull the 1/1 Caitlin Clark, please get in touch with [email protected] to talk about the next steps.
